Over 80 Plus Size finds for under R200

We recently ran a little poll over on our Facebook page asking you what you considered to budget buy. This number is different for everyone, to some, budget means R100 or less, to others a dress for R250 is a proper steal. We had a comment on our poll which said that when you’re shopping for plus size clothing, you generally can’t find anything for under R300. This is so true. As a plus size babe myself, I related. But, I also wanted to test the theory. So I headed to my favourite places to shop _ Superbalist, MrP, Jet and Donna – and looked through their inventory. To my surprise, there were many, many items priced under R200!

And that, my dear friend, has brought us here. To the culmination of all my trawling. I probably could have taken this all the way up to 100 items but I only wanted to share the things I knew I would wear. Let’s be honest, plus size clothing is mostly fashionable, but once in a while it’s a touch ou doos.

In the selection below you’ll see a lot of floral prints, pleats, basics, work wear and there are a few items that could easily carry you into to autumn and even winter. Jet has a stunning soft pink pocho which is not actually from the Donatella range, but is one size fits all and would look great with jeans or even belted with a basic white tee.

Ok, enough chit chat! Let’s get into it!

MrP Extended Sizes

MrP doesn’t have a dedicated plus size range and that is both ok and problematic. Ok because, the clothes are genuinely trendy and it’s nice to shop inclusively and not separately, but problematic because often their clothes don’t fit that well because they haven’t been specifically designed for a plus size body shape. Nevertheless, I managed to find a few things that would work amazingly well for work/office wear, a few really lovely casual items and I just have to highlight that navy and floral skirt…. I have it and it is LUSH!

I do the bulk of my clothing shopping on Superbalist, for myself, my partner and my kids. It’s difficult to find another SA store with the same range of items of they do. When I started this plus size trawl, Superbalist was one of the first places I looked and I wasn’t shocked to see the massive range they had, but I was shocked by the prices. There were so many options under R200 that I felt a bit like a kid in a candy store. I love each and every item I have selected for this post and a few of them have been on my wishlist for ages now.

* Please note that Superbalist is currently having a major sale on and a lot of these prices will only be valid until 31 Jan 2019 – so get yer shop on!

Jet Donatella Range

The pickings were a little slim at Jet online. I also got a bit frustrated with their site which seems to crash every 15 minutes. You’ll see by the colour wheel on the above image, Jet is wonderful for neutral basics, something that can be rather hard to come by when shopping for plus size items. I especially love their denim and those frill sleeve tunics!

Much like Superbalist, Donna carries an awesome range. Unlike any of the other stores featured in this post, Donna is a dedicated plus size brand so their clothing tends to fit a lot better than others. Usually you can expect quite a heavy price tag when shopping at Donna, but right now they are having a massive sale – I think it’s up to 75% off, so take advantage!

  1. Awesome post Nikki, and it would be great to see more like this.
Sadly- I’ve clicked on 10 links, from Mr P, Jet and Donna- not 1 of them had sizes available.
For Jet and Donna, this is probably because the stuff linked is on sale, so gets snapped up very quickly. However most of Mr Price’s stuff doesn’t have size 42 or 44 available.

Oh no Gill!! I’m so sorry about that. I checked all the items on Friday and all still had stock available! Sale stuff does get snapped up so quickly. Let me know if there was anything specific you were looking for and I’ll see if I can find it somewhere else!

      • Thanks! I popped into Jet yesterday, and found the dress I was looking for which was sold out online, so all good 🙂 Thanks for the hard work on putting this together- loving your new blog!

  2. You should try H&M as well. I got a couple of items for under R200. Great quality as well.

Thank you for checking out mr price, often times I go there but then can fine nothing, mostly because I am overwhelmed. I actually prefer a section for the plus babe because then I don’t have to go through the smaller clothes and eventually feel bleh. I have tried suoerbalist so because I always thing what it if doesn’t fit but thanks to this post I think I will try 🙂

Great seeing all your suggestions for places I have not yet tried! Although not online, I would also recommend Miladys as they have modern styles right up to size 50 which don’t break the bank! (Depending on what you choose)
A more expensive option for special occasions (in plus size) is Queenspark. You can visit their shops or buy online at Zandos or Home choice

    • I agree…. I was quite surprised by Milady’s and am a fan since I bought the most flattering and sexy skinny jeans there last year.
