Nikki’s Monthly Must-Have’s: March Favourites

Did anyone else feel like March was a GREAT shopping month? Aside from the fact that there were plenty of wonderful sales, I also discovered a few rad products I had never tried before.

Kim and I chatted about doing round-up posts at the end of every month and instead of talking about the things we want (flip, that list is long), we wanted to share the things we have actually spent our money on and tell you why we love them. We’re keeping things positive and only sharing our favourite purchases, to be honest, it’s not often that we don’t like something. If products have been sponsored, we will highlight that, if we say nothing it means we’ve spent our own rondts on it.

Ok, let’s dive in.

I have been dying to succumb to the hype around Korean beauty. Let me just tell you, it’s a massively intimidating pool to dip your toe into. Firstly, there are now quite a few SA sites that sell K-Beauty products, it’s really hard to discern which are authentic and which are not. Then the actual scope of products is so wide which makes it quite difficult to find the right product for you. My advice, if you are looking to try K-Beauty is to Google and read as many reviews as you can before you purchase. Isolate the skin complaint you’d like to address and then shop to fill that need. I HIGHLY recommend Glow Theory, for me, the site is really easy to navigate, you can shop by skin concern and shipping is lightning quick. The products I purchased are not really what I would consider a “budget buy” but after reading the reviews and looking at the other products on the market which address the same skin concern (large pores and blackheads) these did come out much cheaper. Ok, so I tried:

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil – this is a first step cleanser. It smells amazing and I use it daily.

COSRX Two in One Poreless Power Liquid – I use this as a toner and I am honestly amazed by how fast and how effectively it has worked for me.

COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid – step 3 in my routine, this chemical exfoliator has made a HUGE difference to my skin.

COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence – made from snail goo, this essence is amazing for helping your skin retain moisture. I have also been using it on top of my primer. I love it

I’ll be sharing a full review of this next week, so if you’re interested, look out for that.

Then I also got a new Physician’s Formula blush and eyeshadow palette. These are both quite a lot more shimmery than I had originally thought, but I’m into it. I got these on sale at Dischem.

My sweet mom bought me this loose-fitting grey jersey from Woolies, I can’t find it online, but it’s R380 and they had lots of stock at the Cavendish Square Woolies. Because it’s quite a light knit, it’s great for layering and these in between autumn days.

I am OBSESSED (and I mean it) with my teddy bear dress from Good Clothing. I got it on the summer sale. I wore it for the first time yesterday and it is unbelievable flattering and so comfortable. I have a few things from Good Clothing that I have bought over the years and while their items are quite pricey, they last. One of the dresses I have from them is 12 years old and still looks amazing.

I got 3 pairs of Jada Footwear shoes this month, two pairs of boots (love) and these heels (which I can’t seem to find online). They’re mock suede so they won’t really work for rainy days, but they are so lovely and so simple and versatile, I know I’ll wear them till they fall apart.

If you follow us on Instagram, you would know that we took part in the Bargain Books Warehouse Sale campaign in March. The lovely folks at Bargain Books sponsored a giveaway for our followers and I attended the Warehouse Book Sale. I got quite a few books and these are the first two I have read. I picked them up because the covers were so beautiful, and I am so happy to report that they lived up to their covers.

Did you have a great shopping month? What did you get? Tell us if you found any great steals or deals!
