How To: One Friggin’ Fabulous Skirt Three Ways

It’s here! The universal skirt that looks amazing on everyone! And marries well with practically everything you own.

Often with fashion there are items you’re intimidated by – perhaps thinking they’re too flashy, that you’ll wear it for one occasion and be done with it, but this skirts will be BFFs with just about anything in your closet! Gone are the days when basics were boring or simply black, this one’s a winner that’ll you’ll get tons of wear from. There’s no reason why you can’t be adventurous and have a little fun with fashion.

I was so filled with glee when I found it that I literally danced and couldn’t wait to get home and try it on. It’s the most comfortable skirt I’ve ever worn and if you’re looking for work wear or an after-hours fierce ensemble, this skirt is EVERYTHING! It’s loose-fitting with an elastic waist, flowy and feels so soft on your skin. I saw it at Cotton On for R450 and got R100 off when signed up for the Perks rewards card. Part of budget buying is saving with every loyalty programme out there, right?

I’m not going to drone on today, just get right to my 3 ways to wear this fabulous beauty!

LOOK 1: Black polo neck and classic white sneakers

When I first laid eyes on this metallic glittery gem, I already knew I wanted to pair it with leggings, a black turtleneck, scarf a, black biker jacket and black ankle boots. It’s not quite cold outside yet so I skipped the scarf, boots and leggings and found these gorgeous platform sneakers at Mr Price – they’re like faux Van’s. This is a look that works wherever life takes you – a party, presentation or drinks at the promenade. Heck, I’m wearing it to a dentist appointment! I’ve never been so excited for the mercury to drop to try out the scraf and cropped jacket vibe. I’m also in desperate need of a new biker jacket – the last pleather one started peeling really badly after 4 years of wonderful wear. I spotted a similar one at Mr Price but it wasn’t faux leather and the second one I had my eye on turned out to be R1400! So if you know of any good bargain buys out there, hook a sister up.

Skirt, Cotton On, R450 (sign up for rewards for your R100 off!) For some reason, the link online doesn’t work but it is in store as well as Access Park. Search for Woven Daria. Can’t wait? You can find a similar Cotton On one here for R499.
It was on Superbalist as well a few days ago 🙁 might be sold out, but here is a similar style in velour for R189!

Black poloneck from Mr Price, R79.99.
Leopard print scarf, Mr Price, R69.99.
Platform white sneakers from Mr Price, marked down to R150 – these online ones are very similar and there were plenty of pairs in store. Planning to wear these pretty much until the rubber wears paper thin!

LOOK 2: Denim shirt and platforms

I wanted to be a little more daring with this look and try a statement shimmering moon bag but chickened out at the last second. I won’t make that mistake again because I found a moon bag at Mr Price marked down to just R40! This is a simple, relaxed look – perfect for day or night and best for a slow day at the office. No tie, buttoned up or unbuttoned denim shirt vibes both work. I bought this shirt so long ago that I forgot when I bought it it but that’s the thing with classics, they never go out of style and you can find them anywhere.

A sparkly smaller pendant will really bring out the shimmer in the skirt which plays beautifully with gold accessories and egg-shell sneakers or fashionable monochrome brogues. I tucked in the denim shirt, but tied into a knot or paired with a wide waist belt is look that gets the nod from me. Yaaas gurl!

Denim shirt, Mr Price, R150
Rose gold moon bag, R119.99. Pop into store – there were tons of moon bags marked down to between R40 and R80)

Everything about this look is #errrdaygoals! A heavy knit, a textured skirt and structured bag create a style with so much interest and detail. This is my go-to for date night or any plus-one or gurl’s night get together. Pointy heels and a flashy clutch are all you need. I actually bought a very similar jersey to the fire engine red one and as soon as the clouds are out, I will be in it.

Chunky beige knit, H&M, R329 (no online store)
Fire Engine Red knit, Mr Price R229.99 (I have a suspicion it will be going on sale soon!)

If you’ve found something you’re intimidated by, dare to wear it. It’s only fashion. You will get more wear out of it than you think. 😉

Absolutely love this post. I tend to shy away from any clothing that’s shiny but this skirt is somehting I think I’ll add to my wardrobe.
